First Time Fridays

Well, here I am....a newbie to the Blog world and excited (I think) about this new adventure! Thank you Alyssa!

I am still contemplating exactly what direction I want this Blog to go in. My mind is a sea full of thoughts, ideas, advice, complaints, frustrations, and questions. However, organizing them and sending the messages through my fingertips onto the keyboard feels like an impossible task!

In my 31 years I have lived a rather busy and complicated, yet sometimes boring, life. I'm sure that some infinite wisdom lies within all of those years of experience and I would like to think that someone in this Bloggy World could benefit from said wisdom!

For now, I will give you an explanation of my blog title: One B.A.A.D. Family

My family consists of:

B: This is my youngest son who will turn 6 this summer! He's the spitting image of his daddy and way smarter than my husband and I would like for him to be! He is the one that is paying us back for all of our indiscretions when we were children!

A: This is for my oldest boy who will turn 12 this summer! I had him prior to my current marriage when I was only 19. He is my pride and joy and I have no doubt that he saved me from myself! I knew from the second I found out I was pregnant with him that GOD had great plans for me! He is a very good student, a talented actor, and such a gentleman!

A: This is for ME! A 31 year old married mom to 2 boys that are growing up way faster than I would like for them to! I work from home in the insurance field part-time. I also teach pre-school, work as a volunteer coordinator for our church, and watch 4 children before/after school and in the summer. I believe that raising children with good, morals and values in today's world is the most challenging work I have ever done!

D: This is for my darling husband! We met in 1999 while playing basketball at our apartment complex and we've been together ever since! While he often frustrates me with his laid back attitude I love how we balance each other out so perfectly. His job in the restaurant industry keeps him from us more often that we would like but we do the best we can with the time we do get! He is an amazing dad to our boys and an amazing partner for life!

So, why did we create the B.A.A.D. family label? Well it was the solution to one of the many problems we have faced having a blended family and that is.....how do we sign our Christmas cards, invitations, etc. since one of us has a different last name than the rest of us?!?!?! We can't sign them "Love, the (last name) family" because this made my oldest son feel left out. So, we brainstormed for a bit and decided on using the 1st initial of each of our 1st names and there it was.....The B.A.A.D. Family! It has worked for us for years and our family and friends get a kick out of it!

So that's me and a very brief description of my boys. Welcome!!

Where have you been hiding all this talent? Aubrie, you are the hardest working person I have ever met. I am positive that your voice of wisdom will make an impact.

Welcome to the blogosphere! I know that you are a wealth of information for young single moms, and blended families everywhere

Love your story. Mine is so similar it is scary. My oldest is 11 from a previous marriage (that shouldn't have occurred, the marriage I mean!) And now I am with a wonderful Man that I actually met on Match.com. He is such a wonderful Step Dad and an outstanding Dad to our 2 1/2 year old. My ex and I actually get a long for the most part and he lives just down the road. My oldest goes back and forth every week. He has for 7 years now and it works for us. Thanks for your story and inspiration!
